Favorites Mayer and Gotzler in 2nd and 3rd place
Austrian Sophie Schmutzer took already the lead after the preliminary round. With round results of 170 and 192 (!) in the second round, she built up a comfortable 15-point lead over Alina Mayer (GER). Slovenian Sabina Jancic Dobnik sensationally finished the preliminary round in 3rd place.
World Champion Gotzler catching up in the final
The final developed into a real battle. Alina Mayer caught up with Sophie Schmutzer in the first round with a round result of 172 points, gaining 10 points. World Champion Verena Gotzler once again showed her strong nerves and also made up ground with 181 points. Until the last six attempts at combining, Schmutzer seemed to already have the title in the bag. She led by 13 points over Mayer. The German U23 European champion once again mobilised all her energy, writing a 26. Schmutzer stayed calm and won gold by three points ahead of Alina Mayer. In third place, Verena Gotzler with a total of 643 points. The unlucky person of the day was the Austrian Julia Omelko. She missed out on the bronze medal on the very last lane.
For 26-year-old Sophie Schmutzer, this is the first European Championship individual medal after finishing fifth at the last European Championship in Kaunas in 2019.

German women ahead of Austria in the team event
In the team event, Austria led until the second round before Alina Mayer scored 52 points for the German team. On the third round, both Austria and Germany scored 46. Austria can still catch up a little on the last round. Germany with Ulrike Lachenmayer, Alina Mayer, Verena Gotzler and Marina Dunstmair won in the end with only a 2-point lead over Austria. Italy secured bronze ahead of Slovenia and Switzerland.
