The world record is 566.53 m and was set in 1989 by Manfred Zieglgruber (GER) at Seeoner See in Bavaria. Distances like this can only be achieved on natural ice under perfect conditions.

The competition that demands strength.
In the distance competition, the aim is to get your Icestock as far as possible along a marked funnel-shaped rink. You have five attempts, the furthest counts towards the score. Speed, technique and strength are required for a perfect attempt. Each player uses the same icestock, but can choose their own grip.
250m and more – the longest wins!
On normal distance tracks on asphalt, distances between 120-150m are achieved. Longer distances are only possible on natural ice. At the last European Championships at Lake Goggausee in Austria in 2024, a competition was held on natural ice again after many years. The German Michael Späth achieved the maximum distance with exactly 280m.
